Meet Casey

Casey Weinberg Florance is known for guiding clients through all aspects of family law and divorce with professionalism, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving, leaving them with a solid plan for their future.

Her clients often remark that Casey is friendly, approachable, and relatable. She prides herself on being an effective communicator and on her ability to make her clients feel at ease during an often stressful time in their lives.

As a child of divorce, Casey has a keen understanding of both the emotional and logistical underpinnings of divorce and custody matters. She is able to provide first-hand advice and thoughtfulness that helps counsel her clients throughout the process.

With her knowledge and experience in family law, Casey provides practical approaches to problems, both day-to-day and longer-term. One of her biggest strengths is being able to drive a conversation constructively and steer toward resolution when possible. When needed, however, Casey effectively advocates for her clients in the courtroom and her fierce presence has earned her a reputation as a skilled litigator.

Casey focuses on all aspects of family law in Maryland and DC, is a Best Interest Attorney/Child Privilege Attorney, and is a trained mediator. Family law has always been Casey’s passion and is the field that she has focused on since first starting law school. Even her two summer jobs during law school were family law related—interning at a domestic violence shelter helping victims to get protective orders, and as a clerk at a small family law firm. Casey was also a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Ann N. Sundt from August 2006-March 2008 at the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland.

Casey believes that being a lawyer and a leader includes an obligation to improve the legal profession and give back to the community.

To that end, she is actively engaged in a variety of efforts, including serving as the Co-Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Bar Association of Montgomery County and serving on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery County, Maryland Bar Foundation.

She is one of only 36 family lawyers in Maryland who is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and she was recently appointed by the Governor to serve a four-year term on the Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission.

Outside of the office, Casey loves spending time with her husband and two sons at the beach and at the pool, exploring DC, and rooting for the Baltimore Ravens and the Johns Hopkins lacrosse team.

As a self-declared “foodie”, Casey and her husband often spend date nights trying new restaurants in the DC area. You can also find Casey on the mat practicing her newest passion: yoga.
